come what may and love it

the title for this post is one of my favorite conference talks given by Elder Wirthlin in October of 2008. His talk was about how life will be difficult, bad things will happen, things we don't expect and maybe don't want, but that our attitude should be "come what may and love it." i've been practicing this idea recently. for example, a few weeks ago when this area got 8 inches of snow on the very night of our Relief Society Ward party, a party i was over (since i'm the new Relief Society president) and had chosen the prior day NOT to postpone the party thinking, "8 inches? We're midwesterners. We can hang with 8 inches of snow." well, the next day the snow started at 10am and did not stop until past 6pm. NONE of the roads were plowed, let alone the church parking lot. let me just say that is was a very patient bishop that wasn't upset when i called him at 5:00pm (the party was to begin at 7pm) and said, "oops. you were right. we should cancel."
this is the view of our driveway and road from our front door. it took commuters 4+ hours to drive the 30 miles from chicago to home. definitely ideal for a ward party :)
come what may and love it when my boys and i have spent the day inside trying to pack boxes for our move (a move to the first home we're OWNING!) and looking up and seeing my sweet three year old "helping me" by UNPACKING the box i had just finished packing.
my "packers"
so come what may. we are loving the new adventures in our lives. we feel so blessed to be able to move into a new BEAUTIFUL home within our same ward boundaries. and i feel so blessed for all the support and love i've gotten in my new calling as Relief Society president.
