i have entered a new and unfamiliar world. a world of archenemies, superhuman strength, bad guys, and...superheroes. i was not a superhero girl. i prefer, and still do, mr. darcy to superman. and i feel that Christian Bale was a better "cowboy" and "laurie" than "batman". but in my home, i'm outnumbered 3 to 1 and so my life is now all about superheroes.
Jerry Seinfeld said that when boys dream about superheroes these dreams are not fantasies, they are options. i believe it. mark really and truly believes that he is a superhero (and truthfully so does dave). the other day mark and i were driving and i asked him what he wanted to do today, his answer, "can we have batman and superman over for a play date?" good question. i wish. since then i have been asked a myriad of superhero-type questions: where is Gotham city? how can i destroy krypton? how do i learn to fly? (asked as he is attempting to "fly" off the couch) who is my bad guy that i fight? (obviously since mark is a superhero he needs his own, personal, and unique archenemy to fight)
for halloween mark was of course a superhero, but not just any superhero, he was SUPER MARK. i had thought he would want to be either batman or superman for halloween, but this was not the case. this was his logic: since batman and superman are obviously real, it would be disrespectful to take their identities, so he needed to create his own superhero identity. he decided on the name SUPER MARK.
here are so photos from halloween. you will notice his costume included everything from a cape to help him fly, a mask to conceal his identity, and of course a utility belt. he has worn this costume for 4 days now (mask and all).

caleb was a superhero too. he had a big "C" on his chest and wore a cape as well.
mark couldn't have been more excited for trick for treating
dave and caleb while we went trick or treating as a family

autumn in naperville....it's so lovely. this is the view from our street (i love our neighborhood). illinois gets a bad rap for its weather (for good reason) but serious, isn't this beautiful?

Love you guys! xo
So cute! I love the costumes. It kind of makes me want to wear a cape...I hope Mark will put on his Super Mark outfit for me at Christmas.
OK serious right now?? Darling. . .love the costumes, and Mark looked like he loooooved it haha :) Caleb's growing so fast, I see some of him in Parker?? I'm also liking the photog skills I'm seeing!
What a cute post! Mark's costume was adorable. Lucy thinks she is really Rapunzel-wouldn't it be fun to have that kind of imagination?!
Halloween night was beautiful - fall here can be so amazing! Welcome to the superhero world... :)
